Apple's 2025 Design Awards Celebrating Real User Experiences Beyond AI

Welcome back to TechCrunch Daily. I’m your host, and today we’re talking Apple’s 2025 Design Awards winners, announced just days before WWDC. This year’s winners and finalists mostly include indie apps and startups, and contrary to the trend everywhere else, generative AI apps are noticeably missing from the list. As TechCrunch notes, “This is the second year in a row Apple has skipped AI-centric apps for its awards.”

Instead, Apple focused on real user experiences, naming 12 winners—one app and one game in each of six categories: Delight and Fun, Innovation, Interaction, Inclusivity, Social Impact, and Visuals and Graphics.

Highlights include Speechify, which won the Inclusivity award, and Moises, the music creation app. In Social Impact, Watch Duty snagged the prize for its wildfire information sharing tool, while prototyping app Play took home Innovation honors.

Stay tuned for more from WWDC—until next time, I’m [Your Name], reporting from TechCrunch.
