Hello and welcome to Quick Tech Podcast, I’m your host. Today we’re looking at Vert, a secure, browser-based file conversion tool.
Vert is open source and can convert the most common image, audio, video, and document formats—all without uploading your files to a server. “Your files are never actually uploaded anywhere,” says the developer. That means faster conversions and better privacy.
To use it, just drag and drop or click to add your files, select your desired format, and hit convert. Soon you can click download, or grab a single ZIP archive if all your files share the same type.
Note: video conversions do upload to a server—Vert warns you ahead of time—and videos are deleted “after you download your file or an hour after you upload them.” PDF support is missing, and some very old Word docs may fail, but overall Vert is lightning fast and ad-free. It’s definitely worth bookmarking.
