Welcome to today's podcast! We're diving into the inspiring journey of Alex Matisse, founder of East Fork Pottery in Asheville, North Carolina. It all started in 2009 when Alex, wanting to carve out his own identity, initially chose not to use the illustrious name of his great-grandfather, the renowned artist Henri Matisse.

However, as Alex’s ceramics gained popularity, a passionate community of fans emerged, affectionately known as “Potheads,” who actively buy, share, and trade East Fork dinnerware online. In a recent turn of events, about 18 months ago, Alex embraced his heritage. He decided it was time to incorporate the Matisse name into his brand.

As Alex puts it, “It felt like the right moment to celebrate my lineage and the craftsmanship we create.” Today, East Fork Pottery stands as a testament to blending tradition with modern artistry. Join us next time for more inspiring stories behind creative minds!
