Embrace Your Voice: Why Authenticity Trumps AI in Writing

Hello and welcome to One Minute Insights. Today we’re talking about a passionate plea from Clayton W. Ramsey: “Don’t let a computer write for you!” He argues that your own thoughts—no matter how simple—are always more meaningful than anything a language model can produce.

Ramsey identifies three reasons people lean on AI writing: they think it doesn’t matter, they believe the model writes better, or they have commercial “skin in the game.” But he warns that AI outputs are often “verbose, interminably waffly, and insipidly fixated on bullet-points.” Worse, using AI code generators leads to “stillborn programs” with no real understanding behind them.

His mantra? “If it’s not worth doing, it’s not worth doing well.” And conversely, “If it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing badly.” In other words, embrace your imperfect, original voice. After all, genuine human creativity can’t be replicated by an algorithm. Thanks for listening!
