Welcome to this episode of the Best of Late Night, where we highlight the witty jabs from last night's shows. With President Trump marking 100 days in office, it seems many Americans are less than thrilled, judging by his plummeting approval ratings.
Seth Meyers jokingly noted that Trump is “killing it — and by ‘it,’ I mean his approval ratings.” Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel quipped, “Trump is as popular as Kanye at a bat mitzvah,” capturing the mood perfectly.
Stephen Colbert pointed out the grim economic assessments, stating, “More than 70 percent of Americans say the economy is either ‘not so good’ or ‘poor,’” adding that the remaining 30 percent might be “in a coma or in his cabinet or both.” And Jimmy Fallon delivered a punchy line with, “Even measles is polling at 40 percent,” in reference to Trump’s approval rating drop to 39 percent.
As Trump urged House Republicans to skip celebrations for his 100 days and focus on tax bills, Meyers remarked, “I hate to break it to you, buddy — there wasn’t going to be a celebration.”
Amid the laughter, viewers are reminded that political humor can shine a light on serious issues. Tune in tomorrow for more late-night highlights!
