About the size of a coffee maker, it sits on the kitchen table, chimes twice a day, and neatly drops each pill into a cup when she pushes the big button. If she waits more than 15 minutes, both of us get a notification—along with a nudge from Phantom, her calico cat. Setup takes about 15 minutes, and as my mom declared, “You’re a mechanical genius,” even though I’m not. The Hero holds a 90-day supply of ten pills, reminds you via texts or calls, and shows green checkmarks when doses are taken. It does require a subscription—$45 a month or $30 prepaid—and needs power and Wi-Fi, but it’s been a lifesaver. That’s your quick fix for better med management.
