Welcome to today’s quick dive into self-hosting your podcast! Have you ever dreamed of putting your show out into the world without relying on big platforms? Well, it’s totally doable—and surprisingly simple.
When I started the MousePaw’dCast, I wanted full control, so I looked into self-hosting options. Turns out, all you really need is a basic website, a text editor, and a little patience. You can host your audio files directly on your server, but if you prefer an easier route, the Internet Archive is a fantastic choice. It’s reliable, handles high traffic, and you can license your content under Creative Commons, meaning anyone can listen and share freely.
Now, keep in mind, self-hosting has some downsides: you’re responsible for fixing issues, you won’t get detailed analytics, and monetization is tricky. But if you’re cool with that, it’s a great way to get your voice out there on your own terms. So, gear up, prepare your materials, and start sharing your story—your audience is waiting!
