Navigating the Future of Browsing with Deta Surf's Innovative Features

Welcome to Tech Bytes. Today we’re talking about a new browser called Deta Surf that “clicked” for Fast Company reporter Jared Newman the moment he saw its screenshot-to-pinboard feature. Imagine taking a snapshot of any web page, saving it to a “My Stuff” menu, and then instantly jumping back to the live page—all with full-text search across pages, screenshots, PDFs, and even your own notes. Newman says it feels “as if a browser was built around the idea of bookmarking, instead of the other way around.”

Surf also offers vertical or horizontal tabs, separate workspaces called Contexts, and a flexible Desktop view where you can rearrange saved items and sticky notes. On the AI side, there’s an “Ask this Tab” button for instant summaries, and “Ask Context” to pull insights from everything you’ve saved.

Keep in mind Surf is in public alpha, so you’ll run into rough edges, missing mobile support, and occasional bugs. But as a new way to tame tab overload and streamline research, Deta Surf is definitely one to watch.
