Welcome back to Tech Minute. Today, Google has officially released standalone NotebookLM apps for Android and iOS—just in time for Google I/O 2025. Since its 2023 debut, the AI-based note-taking and research assistant was desktop-only. Now, users can research on the go.
NotebookLM is designed to help people “better understand complex information” with features like “smart summaries” and interactive Q&A about documents. The mobile app introduces Audio Overviews—NotebookLM’s “AI-generated podcasts” based on your own source materials—with background playback and offline support. You can create new notebooks, browse existing ones, and, when viewing a website, PDF, or YouTube video, simply tap Share and select NotebookLM to add it as a source.
Light and dark modes match your device’s settings. With this launch arriving just before Google I/O, we expect more details during tomorrow’s keynote. Stay tuned for updates on how NotebookLM is transforming the way we capture and digest information.
