The Dawn of Glasses-Free 3D Revolution Transforming Tech and Gaming

Welcome to this week’s Tech Brief. Remember when 3D meant bulky glasses and movie theater gimmicks? Well, a new generation of glasses-free 3D is here, and it finally feels ready for prime time. Laptops, tablets, and gaming monitors now use eye-tracking cameras, lenticular lenses, and a switchable optical layer to deliver a seamless 3D effect. As Leia Inc. cofounder David Fattal puts it, “Today, we’re at hopefully the inflection point.”

I’ve been testing Samsung’s new Odyssey 3D gaming monitor—priced at about two grand—and the depth really pops. It even converts flat content like YouTube videos and Zoom calls into AI-driven 3D on the fly. Samsung’s head of product marketing, David You, says, “We feel like this is the start of the next big thing.”

Gamers are in the vanguard today, but the real vision goes far beyond play. Imagine snapping every family photo, sharing every social post, and hosting every video chat in full 3D. That’s the dream: a world where depth is standard on every screen. Stay tuned.
