Looking to light up your gaming space? “The bare walls of my bedroom...demand I add some flair to my usually nerdy living space.” Back at CES 2025, Govee’s Gaming Pixel Light caught my eye. This plug-in frame comes in 32×32 for $120 or 52×32 for $140 and “does what it needs to do, but limited colors limits what it can show.” Setup is simple through the Govee Home app, where “the real fun comes from displaying GIFs of scenes from your favorite 8-, 16-, or perhaps a few 32-bit retro games.” It even packs a tiny speaker for chiptunes. More stark colors look sharper, while complex images can turn mushy on its 1,024 or 1,664 LEDs. Extra features include clock, crypto ticker, and sketch mode, but you’ll probably stick to that smooth 30fps Sonic loop. If your walls “demand flair,” this might be the perfect antidote to a dull apartment.
