Hello and welcome to Tiny Tech Talks. Today I’m excited to share how Lifehacker deputy editor Joel Cunningham turned his Boox Palma e-reader into a distraction-free writing machine. As Joel says, he wrote the entire article on his Palma using “just an e-ink screen, a Bluetooth keyboard, and my thoughts.”
By pairing a foldable iClever keyboard over Bluetooth and opening Google Docs, he created a portable word processor and even disabled the onscreen keyboard to stay focused. The e-ink display means “no intrusive notifications, no new tabs to click away at just for a second.”
Thanks to Boox’s speedy refresh modes, typing feels smooth and responsive. A hiccup with Starbucks Wi-Fi only reinforced the point: without internet access, you simply concentrate on the words. In Joel’s words, it’s “kind of ideal” if all you want is “a blinking cursor” and a clean writing slate.
That’s it for today’s episode of Tiny Tech Talks. Happy writing!
