Welcome to Modern CEO! I’m Stephanie Mehta. Today, we explore insights from Graham Weaver, CEO of Alpine Investors and a Stanford professor, on what makes Gen Z unique in the workplace.
Weaver has developed a groundbreaking CEO-in-Training program for MBAs, allowing aspiring leaders to step into executive roles quicker than ever before. “We created a system where aspiring leaders could come in and learn the basics of being a CEO,” he explains, highlighting the program’s focus on mentorship and peer coaching.
The CIT program is incredibly selective, having recently hired 14 trainees for its 2024 cohort. According to Weaver, the most successful candidates possess a “will to win,” complemented by self-awareness and emotional intelligence — traits that are crucial in a team-based environment.
Weaver emphasizes that today's young professionals are eager to dive into leadership roles, illustrating a shift in ambition. As he puts it, “It gives them a very, very high probability of success.” Join us next week as we continue to break down the evolving landscape of leadership!
