Welcome to today’s episode, where we dive into the latest announcement from VMware. If you’ve been missing a free version of ESXi, the wait is over! VMware has released ESXi 8.0U3e, now available for download and installation for evaluation.
However, gaining access isn't the easiest process. First, you need to navigate to the Broadcom support portal and log in. If you haven’t logged in recently, you might find yourself resetting your password. Once you’re in, head to the VMware vSphere Hypervisor section, click again on VMware vSphere Hypervisor, and then locate Release 8.0U3e.
You'll need to accept the terms and conditions and ensure your contact information is up to date before you can finally download the ISO. Fortunately, you won't have to register a license key, making it more straightforward than past versions.
This move is a welcome return to the free option after about 14 months without it, but it’s worth noting that many users may have already shifted to other ecosystems during that time. As one expert noted, “This at least brings back the path to have a free option in the VMware ecosystem.”
So, if you're in need of a basic virtualization host, ESXi 8.0U3e might just fit the bill. Keep tuning in for more tech updates!
