Unlocking the Future of AI with MCP Servers Explained

Welcome back to the show. Today we’re diving into MCP servers—yes, I’ll admit, “it took me way longer than I’d like to admit to wrap my head around MCP servers.” So what are they? MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, “an open standard introduced by Anthropic” designed to give AI models “structured, secure access to real-world data, tools, and services” without changing the models themselves. Think of an MCP server as a standalone service that exposes resources, tools, or reusable prompts via a JSON-RPC 2.0 interface. Instead of custom API code everywhere, developers implement a shared protocol so AI agents can instantly discover “what’s available, call the appropriate function, and get clean, structured responses.” And yes, “APIs were made for apps. MCP servers were made for AI.” In our next episode we’ll show you how to spin up your own self-hosted MCP server using the Python SDK. Until then, happy hacking!
