In a tragic turn of events in Cincinnati, an Ohio man, Rodney L. Hinton, has been charged with aggravated murder after he allegedly drove his car into a deputy, killing him. This incident occurred just a day after Hinton's 18-year-old son, Ryan, was fatally shot by the Cincinnati police during a pursuit. Chief Teresa Theetge confirmed there is a connection between these events, though it's unclear if Hinton knew the deputy.
During a press conference, Sheriff Charmaine McGuffey expressed sorrow for the deputy's loss, stating, “He was so well-liked and so well-known.” Meanwhile, the events leading to Ryan's death involved a reported stolen vehicle and a brief pursuit, where it was noted that he had a gun but did not fire it.
Attorney Michael Wright, representing the Hinton family, described the day as horrific for both families involved. Wright mentioned that Rodney was extremely distraught after viewing body-camera footage of his son’s shooting just hours before the deputy was struck. Ohio Governor Mike DeWine condemned the act, expressing that he was “sickened by what appears to be an intentional act of violence,” as the community grapples with the aftermath of these tragic incidents.
