Today, we’re talking about a unique innovation from Buffalo: the limited edition Skeleton Hard Disk. In celebration of its parent company's 50th anniversary, Buffalo has created a hard drive that not only stores your data but also showcases its inner workings. This device, priced at about $695, features a small window to display a 4TB drive encased in a stylish machined aluminum housing.
However, hold on - there are only 50 units available, and they will be sold through a lottery starting in June. The design pays homage to a retro record player, and while you might dream of integrating it into your gaming setup, this drive is clearly intended as a display piece rather than discreet hardware.
Buffalo has also introduced SeekWizard software for Windows users, which makes the hard drive's read arm move in fun patterns, simulating data access or even ticking like a metronome. But, don’t get too attached; it comes with just a one-month warranty.
Interestingly, this isn’t Buffalo’s first foray into showcasing hard drives. The Skeleton Hard Disk is a nod to their 1998 model and reflects a long-standing fascination with visible technology. As Buffalo states, “This drive isn’t just about performance; it’s about experience.” So, will you try your luck in the lottery?
