Why High Performers Make Assertions: Unlock Your Leadership Edge

Hey, it’s Wes! Today, let’s talk about why high performers don’t just share insights—they make assertions. Early in my career, I thought pointing out trends was enough. I’d show my manager, “Look at these market shifts!” but often, I’d be asked, “And what should we do?” That’s the key. Insights are a starting point—they show curiosity and awareness. But they don’t drive change.

The real game-changer? Making assertions. That means taking a stand, proposing a clear course of action, and owning it. A strong assertion has three parts: first, a bias toward action—what should we do? Second, a point of view that you believe in passionately. And third, ownership—you’re willing to champion the idea and be responsible for its success.

So, next time you spot an insight, ask yourself: what’s my assertion? High performers turn observations into action by owning their ideas and advocating confidently. That’s how they stand out and lead effectively. Thanks for listening!
