Welcome to today's tech update! Amazon has rolled out a significant change in its iOS Kindle app. Following a recent legal ruling in the Epic Games versus Apple case, Apple can no longer charge a commission on purchases made outside of apps. This has prompted Amazon to introduce a new “Get book” button within its Kindle app, making it easier for users to buy ebooks directly.
Amazon spokesperson Tim Gillman stated, “We regularly make improvements to our apps to help ensure we are providing customers the most convenient experience possible.” Previously, users could only browse and read purchased books in the app, forcing them to use a web browser to make purchases.
This update streamlines the buying process for ebooks right from your iPhone or iPad, especially for those times when your Kindle isn’t connected to Wi-Fi. However, there’s still uncertainty, as Apple's appeal could revert these changes.
