Welcome to today’s one-minute golf fix. I’m your host, and we’re diving into Danny Maude’s possibly fastest way to fix your ball striking.
Danny says it all comes down to where your low point is. Most of us hit behind the ball, leaving fat or thin shots. His simple answer? Get weight forward and hands ahead at impact. He urges you to “feel like you’re swinging down the line with your chest driving into the shot.”
Start by placing the ball just inside your front heel. Make a small forward press with your hands before the backswing—nothing dramatic, just enough to lean the shaft toward your target. On the downswing, shift your weight decisively into your lead foot while maintaining that forward shaft lean. Aim to strike the turf just after the ball, creating a clean, descending blow.
Spend a few minutes hitting half shots with these adjustments. You’ll immediately notice firmer, more consistent strikes. Try it on the range today, and watch your ball striking transform.
