Welcome to today’s one-minute tech tip. I’m your host, and today we’re talking about using Syncthing for real-time backups. As Lawrence Systems puts it, “Syncthing is like rsync but in real time,” syncing your files across devices with end-to-end encryption and no cloud middleman. I run Syncthing on my laptop in “send only” mode and on my NAS in “receive only” mode to avoid sync loops. Every change I make—from code edits to photos—“instantly replicates” across all my machines. I set up ignore patterns to skip temporary files and enable versioning so I can roll back deleted or overwritten files. The simple web GUI shows sync status and network usage, and it’s cross-platform and open source. Whether you’re backing up configs, documents, or media, Syncthing gives you secure, automated, peer-to-peer replication. Thanks for listening, and happy syncing!
