Welcome to today's episode of Tech Talk! Big news for Nintendo fans: preorders for the highly anticipated Switch 2 are set to reopen on April 24. After a brief pause due to the ongoing tariff situation, Nintendo is back on track. If you're hoping for a price hike, relax! The Switch 2 will still retail for $450, or $500 if you opt for the bundle with Mario Kart World.
Mark your calendars! The console officially launches on June 5. Canadian gamers can also place their preorders on the same date. However, accessories are seeing a price increase, with Pro controllers now at $85 and Joy-Cons at $95.
Nintendo stated, “Other adjustments to the price of any Nintendo product are also possible in the future depending on market conditions.” To ensure you're in the running for a preorder, remember, you’ll need a 12-month active Switch Online subscription and a minimum of 50 hours of gameplay on your original console.
Those already signed up for preorders can expect an email with details by May 8. And if you miss out on Nintendo's direct sales, don’t worry—retailers like Best Buy and GameStop are ready to take your orders. However, if you're keen on getting one on launch day, preordering online is the way to go.
As we approach the release, we’ll keep you updated and ready for reviews. Happy gaming!
