Welcome back to the Sports Business Spotlight podcast. Today we’re talking about Swiss athletic brand On Running, which just kicked off 2025 by growing first-quarter sales by a whopping 43 percent year-over-year. Since launching in Zurich in 2010, On has built a reputation for sleek, minimalist design and cutting-edge cushioning technology. Their direct-to-consumer channel is firing on all cylinders, and they now operate 53 stores around the world.
Despite these healthy numbers, cofounder and executive cochairman Caspar Coppetti reminds us there’s still serious runway ahead. “Our global brand awareness last year was only 20 percent, while Nike is at 95 percent,” he says. Coppetti insists On isn’t trying to clone any existing powerhouse. “We’re not trying to be the next Brand X or Brand Y. We want to be the most premium brand in sports, really elevating the whole brand experience.”
With that vision guiding every new shoe release and store opening, On Running looks poised to sprint even farther ahead.
