Philips Fixables Revolutionizing Self-Repair with 3D Printable Solutions

Welcome to Tech Repair Minute. Today, we’re looking at Philips’ new “Philips Fixables” initiative, designed to encourage self-repair on select products. Philips has released an officially drafted 3 millimeter comb replacement for one of its shavers, and the best part? You can download the 3D printable file for free from Printables.com.

For now, that’s the only component available, but Philips promises “more components made available for more of our devices over time.” The program is rolling out first in the Czech Republic with support from Prusa Research and LePub, hoping local makers will adopt it quickly.

Philips emphasizes that users must follow the “recommended print settings” so each replacement part is “sturdy enough to stand in for a repair.” If you need a different piece, you can submit a request on the Philips Fixables web page and receive a download link if your suggestion is approved.

This move highlights a growing trend toward sustainable repair options rather than outright device replacement. Stay tuned for more updates on Philips’ open-source repair efforts.
