Siri's Surprise Settlement: How You Could Claim Your Share of $95 Million

Welcome back to Your Daily Tech Minute. Today, we’re talking about a $95 million class-action settlement you might be eligible for—courtesy of Apple’s Siri.

Here’s the story: in 2014, Apple rolled out the “Hey, Siri” command so you could activate your assistant hands-free. But sometimes Siri kicked in by mistake, recording private conversations you never meant to share. Plaintiffs alleged those unintended snippets were shared with third parties, violating user privacy. Apple insists it did nothing wrong but “settled this case to avoid additional litigation so we can move forward from concerns about third-party grading that we already addressed in 2019,” in their words.

If between September 17, 2014 and December 31, 2024 you owned a Siri-enabled iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, HomePod—or another eligible device—and you live in the U.S., you may qualify. Payments are capped at $20 per device, up to five devices, so most claimants will see no more than $100.

To get your share, file a claim by July 2, 2025 at the settlement website. Payments come after the final hearing in August 2025. That’s it—one minute on the money you might already have coming your way.
