Hello and welcome to Tech Brief. Today we’re talking about OpenAI’s newest A.I. agent, Codex, designed to help programmers write code, fix bugs and run tests. Unlike standard chatbots, “agents can use other software and services on the internet,” OpenAI explains—think anything from ordering dinner through DoorDash to synthesizing information across multiple sites. According to the company blog, Codex can “handle multiple tasks at the same time,” streamlining complex workflows for developers. Starting today, any subscriber to ChatGPT Pro—at $200 a month—will have access to Codex, with plans to roll it out through other paid tiers soon. OpenAI is also in talks to acquire Windsurf, another A.I.‐powered coding tool, for around $3 billion—a move that could add thousands of tech‐industry customers. And in a related twist, The New York Times has sued OpenAI and Microsoft over alleged copyright infringement of news content, claims both companies deny. I’m your host—thanks for tuning in to Tech Brief.
