Hello and welcome to today’s one-minute tech briefing. Linus Torvalds, creator of Linux, has officially dumped his quiet, low-profile keyboard after six months and returned to the clicky world of Cherry MX Blue switches. In a recent post about Linux 6.15-rc6, he confessed he’d been “using a quieter low-profile keyboard,” but the board is now “consigned to the spare parts bin” in favor of a “noisy clackety-clack” setup. The reason? Too many typos. As Torvalds explains, “It seems I need the audible (or perhaps tactile) feedback to avoid the typing mistakes that I just kept doing.” Looking ahead, he quips he’ll “conveniently blame autocorrect” instead of the keyboard. Whether you’re a casual typist or a keyboard enthusiast, choosing the right switch and layout can make all the difference.
